just washed my undies in the sink...

...and was prepared to say "...and I'm not proud of it..."-- but actually, I am a little proud of it.  To be clear, I didn't have some sort of disaster scenario where the articles couldn't reasonably sit in the hamper (i.e. a blaze-orange Sainsbury's bag) without compromising the lot or significantly abating the ambiance of this cozy studio apartment in Stockholm.  I was neither raised by wolves nor by someone who would rinse out used ziploc bags for future food storage; there is no attempt at salvage in a disaster scenario.

Just wanted to make that clear-- the load of laundry in question here is as quotidian as can be.  Perhaps the title of the post is more salacious than necessary, as I washed socks as well.  Three units of underwear (I know we'd say 'pairs' but I'd hate to mislead) and three pairs of socks, to be exact.  I knew upfront that traveling with only 5 of each would lend to frequent laundering, and the odd sink-washing would surface now and again.  Evidently, there is one laundromat in Stockholm (and to nobody's surprise, it's full of foreigners), as most residential complexes have a shared facility onsite that must be scheduled/booked in advance(?).  Down to my last set of intimates, I figured tonight would be the night to try it out.

Conventional wisdom (read: first result in a Google search) says to use shampoo instead of soap-- I'll let the explanatory arcanum nibble away at your wafer of curiosity for the time being.  A sinkful of water and a few dollops of shampoo later, the clothes were soaking away.  I slapped on the ol' Marigolds, 'agitated' the items to a sufficient extent, and let them soak a bit more before the rinse cycle.  Newly wrung out and hung up, a warm air of quiet confidence ever so slightly hastens the drying process.
